Why am I so afraid of making mistakes?
When does this show up for you? Pick the moment that feels most familiar.
01
Delaying mock tests due to fear
Why can't I just take the test?
The mock test is scheduled for tomorrow.
I know I should be ready.
But what if I perform poorly?
What if I make careless mistakes?
So I postpone it.
I tell myself I need more time.
But more time just means more fear building.
The test never stops looking scary.
Mistakes are part of learning, not proof of failure.
02
Spending too much time on one question
Why can't I move to the next question?
This question is hard.
I don't want to answer it wrong.
So I spend more time on it.
And more time.
Other questions are waiting but I can't leave this one.
My fear of getting it wrong keeps me stuck.
Now I've lost time on easy questions I could have answered.
The fear didn't help me solve it better.
It just cost me everywhere else.
03
Avoiding difficult questions and weak topics
Why do I avoid what I'm weakest in?
There are topics I struggle with.
So I don't practice them.
I study only what I know already.
I tell myself I'll come back to them later.
But I never do.
The fear of failing at them keeps them closed.
So my weak areas stay weak.
The only way forward is through the discomfort.
Avoiding mistakes guarantees that I'll keep making them.
