Why do I always feel I'm not doing enough?
When does this show up for you? Pick the moment that feels most familiar.
01
Completing targets but feeling guilty
Why can't I feel good about finishing?
I completed my study plan for today.
I covered everything I aimed to.
But as soon as I finish, guilt appears.
I think I should have done more.
The completion becomes proof of insufficiency.
I can't celebrate because the finish line moved again.
Nothing I do adds up to enough.
The goalpost resets before I can be proud.
Maybe finishing one day's work is exactly enough.
02
Feeling guilty while taking a break
Why do I feel wrong for resting?
I've studied for hours and need a break.
But as I rest, guilt floods in.
I imagine everyone else is still studying.
My break feels like laziness.
So I cut it short and go back.
I'm exhausted but I can't rest without guilt.
The guilt makes me work when I need recovery.
This isn't helping my progress, it's hurting it.
Rest is part of learning, not against it.
03
Constantly increasing study targets
Why does finishing one goal create two more?
I finish my study target.
Immediately I set a higher one.
The new target is harder.
But I can't say no to it.
I push myself from one exhaustion to the next.
There's never a plateau, only an upward climb.
I'm running a race against my own expectations.
Eventually, I'll burn out because the pace is unsustainable.
Enough is a valid place to pause.
