Why do I keep starting over instead of moving forward?
When does this show up for you? Pick the moment that feels most familiar.
01
Restarting the same chapter
Why can't I move past this one chapter?
I'm halfway through this chapter.
But I don't feel confident enough to continue.
So I go back and restart.
This is the third time I'm reading it.
Each time I tell myself I'll move forward after.
But I still don't feel ready.
The problem isn't the chapter.
The problem is I'm never going to feel ready if I keep starting over.
What if I moved forward anyway, even feeling this way?
02
Making a new study plan after setbacks
Why do I scrap everything when things go wrong?
I missed my study session today.
So now I feel like my whole plan is broken.
I decide to make a completely new timetable.
Something better.
Something that won't fail me.
But I'm just avoiding the one session I missed.
The original plan was working.
One break doesn't mean the plan is bad.
It means I'm human.
Maybe improvement is fixing one day, not rewriting everything.
03
Treating mistakes like the end of everything
Why does one mistake feel like everything is ruined?
I forgot to study yesterday.
So I convince myself that today is already lost.
I tell myself I'll start fresh on Monday.
Or next month.
Or next year.
I'm waiting for the perfect moment to begin again.
But perfect moments never come.
And every day I wait is a day I'm not moving forward.
The best time to restart is right now, not after an imaginary clean slate.
